Calculator Methodology
Each calculator starts with the physical measurement a user can verify on site: length, width, depth, thickness, height, count, coverage, or yield. The page then converts those inputs into the buying unit used by stores and suppliers, such as bags, boxes, gallons, cubic yards, tons, sheets, or boards.
Rounding is intentional. Bags, boxes, sheets, gallons, boards, and bulk bags are whole purchase units, so calculator results round up where buying a partial unit is not useful. Cubic-yard estimates keep decimal detail so users can compare supplier minimums and delivery quotes.
Waste factors are included because raw geometry is rarely enough. Cuts, breakage, uneven subgrade, settling, spillage, dye-lot matching, compaction, and future repairs can all change what a practical purchase looks like.
Calculator examples are checked against the same shared calculator logic used by the browser tools. If a formula, assumption, or example appears wrong, use the Contact page and include the page name, inputs, and expected result.
